RACE FOR THE GOLD BRONZE RACE RE-SCHEDULED FOR MAY 30

By: Kevin Ramsell
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI (Wednesday, April 29, 2009) - American Speed Association Midwest Tour and Dells Raceway Park officials have announced that the rain date for the Race for the Gold Bronze Race will be Saturday, May 30th. The Saturday night event will feature the ASAMT Super Late Models, Mid-American Series, and DRP Pure Stocks.

When the April 25th date was rained out officials carefully reviewed the schedules of other series and big racing events in the area. The tentative re-schedule date announced was June 6th, but after further discussion it was decided that May 30th would be the best date for the Race for the Gold Bronze Race so as not to conflict with another Super Late Model event.

"We are happy to work with Dells Raceway Park to find a date that will work not only for both of us, but also to allow our competitors to compete at other super late model events in the Midwest," Tim Olson, ASAMT President stated. "We are happy to work with Dells Raceway Park to do what we feel is the best thing for local racing."

"We originally thought June 6th would be a match for everyone, but we then realized that there was another major event on the same day," Joe Graziano, Dells Raceway Park co-owner stated. "In the short track racing community, we all have to work together to find a way to survive. We felt we had an opportunity to make sure there was no conflict, and we were able to get it done."

The Dells Raceway Park Season Opener will be Saturday, May 2nd. The Limited Late Models will be running a special 60 lap feature, along with the Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, and United States Sport Trucks. Fan gates open at 3:30 PM, Qualifying is at 3:45 PM, and Green Flags fly at 5:00 PM.

The season opening event for the American Speed Association Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment will be this Sunday, May 3rd at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI with the running of the Joe Shear Classic. Fan gates open at noon, qualifying at 2 p.m. and racing starts at 4 p.m.
