Nick Neville heads to Nashville for the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour portion of the All-American 400 Weekend.
By Buzz Motorsports / M.P.H. PromotionsMackinaw, Illinois (Tuesday, October 28, 2008): Nick Neville has enjoyed a fair amount of success in his three-year career racing in Late Models. He finished second in the chase for the 2006 ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Rookie of the Year title and a year later was the runner-up in the ASALMS Northern Division final point’s standings.
Earlier in 2008, Neville won his first career Super Late Model Feature in weekly competition at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin in the second half of the Weaver Auto Parts Twin 50s back on August 1, 2008 as he beat a strong field of cars including Steve Rubeck, Nathan Haseleu, Andrew Morrissey, and Dan Lensing, who all happened to be the Top Five.
As the 2008 season winds down, Neville is looking ahead to one more race on the calendar as he’ll make the trip to the famed Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, October 31 and November 1, 2008 for the All-American 400 Weekend.
The prestigious weekend in the Volunteer State will be highlighted by two 200-lap Features that make up the All-American 400 with a 200-lap Feature for the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour and another 200-lap Feature for the CRA Super Series.
Neville will steer a Kevin Tunks owned and prepared #1 Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers, Lucas Oil Products, B&B Racing Engines machine during the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour’s 200-lap Feature that is part of their “Road to Nashville” program.
“I have been waiting a long time to have the opportunity to race again at the Music City Motorplex,” Relayed the Mackinaw, Illinois resident. “This is one of my favorite race tracks in the whole country. The chance to drive the Tunks/B&B House Car is going to be awesome.”
Tunks has been Neville’s Crew Chief for the last season and a half primarily in the ASA Late Model Series before the Buzz Motorsports Team left the ASALMS at mid-season to race in the ASA Midwest Tour.
The 20-year-old Neville has enjoyed some success at the historic 0.596 Mile High-Banked Paved Oval as he won the Fast Qualifier Award in an ASALMS Challenge Division event back on March 31, 2007.
“We surprised a lot of people with our qualifying run the last time we were there,” Continued the Prairie State stand out. “Just maybe we can pull a rabbit out of our hat again.” He added. Neville’s best finish in Nashville was a sixth place showing in 2006 in the ASA Late Model Series portion of the All-American 400 Weekend.
In his last race weekend, Nick and older brother, Derek Neville participated in the 39th annual Oktoberfest Weekend at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin.
The weekend began with the Brothers Neville appearing in the Inaugural Futures event pitting drivers who have never appeared in a previous Oktoberfest main event traditionally held on the Sunday of the weekend.
Nick finished second ahead of his brother Derek, who led the first 16 laps. Paul Paine was the winner of the inaugural event while Derek finished third.
The next night, they both ran in the unique Dick Trickle 99 for Super Late Models. Nick qualified an impressive second quick while the weekend ended with the Neville Brothers racing in the 2008 ASA Midwest Tour Season Championship race which highlighted the entire Oktoberfest Weekend.
“To bring our Super Late Model to LaCrosse for the Oktoberfest was like jumping into a lions den,” Laughed Derek Neville, the 2006 ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year. “The ASA Midwest Tour and the Wisconsin SLM racers are the toughest in the country and LaCrosse is one of their favorite playgrounds.”
“We were pretty good the first night there in the Futures race,” Continued the 21-year-old. “But everyone else just kept getting better as the weekend went along. The veterans knew what to do as the track changed each day and we were left playing catch-up."
Nick then ended; “We learned a thing or two at LaCrosse that will come in pretty handy when next years Oktoberfest comes around!”
Throughout the 2008 season, Nick carried the colors of Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers on the side of his familiar lime green #55 Buzz Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Additional support comes from; Lucas Oil Products, Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service, Nick’s Quality Lawn Care, M.P.H. Promotions, and Buzz Motorsports.
Nick’s older brother, Derek Neville wheeled his familiar #95 during the 2008 campaign with primary sponsorship from Lucas Oil Products as well as Illinois Valley Construction, Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service, as well as Neville Land Development, Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers, M.P.H. Promotions, and Buzz Motorsports.
