The “Brothers Neville” look to end their Sophomore seasons on a high note during the Oktoberfest 100

By Buzz Motorsports/M.P.H. Promotions
Mackinaw, Illinois (10/04/2007): Buzz Motorsports teammates and siblings, Derek and Nick Neville continue to plug their way through the 2007 season in the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts. The Mackinaw, Illinois brothers have been consistent Top 10 cars after a rough start to the 2007 campaign.

Now the Prairie State drivers will head to the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Season Championships / Oktoberfest 100 this Saturday October 6, 2007 at the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin with hopes of maintaining their respective Top 10 standings in the ASALMS Northern Division.

In the last ASALMS Northern Division race, the North VS South Shootout/World Cup 200 at the I-70 (MO) Speedway in Odessa, Missouri on September 23, 2007 The “Brothers Neville” continued to impress on one of their favorite tracks on the schedule as they finished together in Fifth and Sixth Places respectively.

“It feels good to be running right there with the leaders at the checkers, especially in a 200 lapper at a tough place like I-70!” Nick Neville said. “We were able to keep our streak of Top 10 finishes alive! It has turned out to be a pretty good season once we got through that early Sophomore slump!” He added.

“I love I-70! I wish all our races could all be on fast, high banked tracks!” Added Nick’s older brother, Derek Neville, the reigning ASALMS North Rookie of the Year. “Chad Stevens and the rest of the crew did a great job replacing a broken track bar bracket during the break. It was amazing they were able to get me back on the track without losing any laps.”

“It was fun coming from the back of the pack and passing cars after the 100-lap break.” Continued Derek. “My car just kept getting better as the race went on! I felt like we were really reeling in the leaders at the end and I was behind Nick, I just ran out of laps!” Derek added.

As for his younger brother, Nick Neville has finished in the Top 10 in every race since the first I-70 event on June 9, 2007 with the exception of the Madison race on July 7, 2007. That’s Six out of the last Seven events. “I am glad to be coming into the last race of the season with the opportunity for our Dixie Chopper team to still win the points championship!” Neville added.

“My crew chief, Kevin Tunks will be racing at LaCrosse in a support class on Thursday, that is sure to give us an edge with our set-up for Saturday!” Explained Nick. “My bet is there will be a tough field of cars at LaCrosse again, so we will need to be on top of our game!” He ended.

Derek then added; “Although our hope to win the championship evaporated with the lap 49 restart fiasco and crash at Hawkeye Downs last month, we can still come away from Lacrosse in pretty good shape in the points.”

In the 2007 ASALMS Northern Divisions’ Nine (9) events held this season, Nick Neville stands a respectable Sixth in the ASALMS North points standings and is still mathematically eligible for the 2007 Championship as he is 91 points back of current ASALMS Northern Division Points Leader, Trent Snyder.

The 19-year-old has recorded Two Top Five finishes highlighted by a career high Fourth at the Dixie (MI) Motor Speedway in the Wolverine 100 to go with Six Top 10 showings. In addition, Nick also has an ARP Bodies Fast Qualifier Award, which he won in his first ever ASALMS Challenge Division event at the Music City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee back on March 31, 2007.

His older brother, Derek Neville is sitting in Ninth Place in the season long points chase with One Top Five finish, a season high Fifth place showing at the I-70 (MO) Speedway during the Missouri 100 Presented by KC Power Equipment back on June 9, 2007. His lone Top Five goes with Five Top 10s, and Six Top 15 finishes.

In select ASALMS Challenge Division appearances, Derek does have One Top 10 finish in two starts. He finished a solid 10th at the Iowa (IA) Speedway on May 19, 2007 during the Make-A-Wish 150 Presented by TMC Transportation and Northland Motor Oils and Lubricants.

For the remainder of the 2007 season, Nick Neville will also steer a Chevrolet Monte Carlo for the rest of the season with sponsorship from; Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers as well as Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service, Nicks Quality Lawn Care, M.P.H. Promotions, and Buzz Motorsports.
