Brothers' Neville both score top ten finish in Rockford 100
Mackinaw,IL (July 30, 2007) For only the second time this season the Green 55 team and the Red 95 team each had something to cheer for at the same event as each overcame difficulties and brought home top ten finishes in the tough ASALMS North Division race at the Rockford, (IL) Speedway.
Nick in the 55 car finally had his luck turn around for the better. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel after a series of disappointments so far this season! A productive 2 hour practice session saw Crew Chief Kevin Tunks and the team make steady gains that led to a solid 11th place qualifying effort. From that starting position on the tight quarter mile track, Nick was able to avoid the "curse" and work his way up through the carnage to record a 7th place finish in the 100 lap event.
Passing was at a premium on this small facility and wrecks were plentiful as Derek, starting from the 14th position, found out in the early going as a crash at the drop of the green caused significant damage to the #95 machine. Quick work by his Chad Stevens led crew allowed Derek to rejoin the tail of the field before the restart. He steadily worked his way forward until a late race flat tire sent him to the pits again forcing him to return to the tail of the field once more. Through this adversity, he was able to remain on the lead lap and bring home a 10th place finish in the 100 lap grind!
Our next ASALMS North event will be the Mid-Michigan doubles on Aug 17-18, 2007.
