The “Brothers Neville” continue to fight their way through the 2007 Racing Season with the Rockford (IL) Speedway on the horizon.

Mackinaw, Illinois (07/25/2007): They say that to win any race in any division in the world of short track stock car racing that you have to experience the growing pains of adversity and overcome many obstacles before that elusive first Feature win!

For Mackinaw, Illinois Brothers, Derek and Nick Neville, both brothers remain positive and agree that all the bad luck is behind them now, especially for Nick, and it’s time to start contending for some Feature Wins preferably with the two siblings battling side by side coming down for the checkered flag!

The remainder of the 2007 Racing Season will see the “Brothers Neville”; Derek and Nick Neville going after the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Championship as well as making select appearances in both the ASALMS Challenge and Southern Divisions. In addition, on ASALMS off weekends, both Neville Brothers will climb back into their dirt UMP Modified as often as possible.

In the last event for the Mackinaw, Illinois siblings, the ASALMS Northern Division was at the Madison (WI) International Speedway on July 7, 2007 for the Mad Summer Meltdown 100. Derek struggled to a 15th place finish while younger brother Nick continues to persevere through a nightmare Sophomore season as he limped home in 19th with mechanical problems.

“Crew chief Chad Stevens brought a good set-up to Madison for us. I just needed to squeeze a little more out of qualifying to get us a better starting spot.” Explained Derek Neville as he reflected on his weekend at Madison. “With only one caution flag for the entire race, it was tough to come from deep in the field to the front.” Stated the reigning ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year.

“We’re decent in points so far, but now is the time to get more aggressive and really focus on getting that first win.” The 21-year-old continued. “The team is really looking forward to the Rockford race. Chad works at Lefthander Chassis, just down the road from the Speedway and I know a lot of guys from there will be in our corner. Kinda like a home track advantage!” Derek Neville hopefully stated.

“I’m beginning to believe the legend of the “Sophomore Jinx”. A faulty spark plug wire ruined the Madison race.” Stated Derek’s 19-year-old brother, Nick Neville. “”Madison is my crew chief, Kevin Tunks home track, so we really had high expectations going in. The Dixie Chopper team is a strong group and I know that in the long run this adversity will make us even better. I am certain we have the capability to get back up front. We just need to prove it!”

“Kevin and the crew are planning some radical changes in set-up and strategy for the Rockford event. We need to find the magic we had at Nashville early in the season.” Continued the ever hopefully Prairie State teenager. “Without the comfort of a top 10 points provisional starting spot we know we have to go big or go home!” He ended.
So far in the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division season, Derek Neville sits solidly in Fourth place in the season long points chase with One Top Five finish, a season high Fifth place showing at the I-70 (MO) Speedway during the Missouri 100 Presented by KC Power Equipment back on June 9, 2007. His lone Top Five goes with Twp Top 10s, and all three North events to this points has seen the elder Neville Brother finish at least in the Top 15.
In select ASALMS Challenge Division appearances, Derek does have One Top 10 finish in two starts. He finished a solid 10th at the Iowa (IA) Speedway on May 19, 2007 during the Make-A-Wish 150 Presented by TMC Transportation and Northland Motor Oils and Lubricants.

As for his younger brother, Nick Neville stands 14th in the ASALMS Northern Division points standings with a single Top 10 finish, right behind his brother Derek in Sixth also at the I-70 Speedway. Despite the bad luck that has plagued the 19-year-old, he still is only Seven points out of the coveted Top 10 in the season long points chase.

In addition, Nick also has an ARP Bodies Fast Qualifier Award, which he won in his first ever ASALMS Challenge Division event at the Music City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee back on March 31, 2007.

For the 2007 season, Derek Neville will carry sponsorship on the side of his Chevrolet Monte Carlo from: Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service as well as Buzz Motorsports, M.P.H. Promotions, and Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers.

His younger brother, Nick Neville will also steer a Chevrolet Monte Carlo with sponsorship from; Dixie Chopper Lawn Mowers as well as Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service, Nicks Quality Lawn Care, M.P.H. Promotions, and Buzz Motorsports.
