The “Brothers Neville” ready for the 2007 season in the ASA Late Model Series. First up is the ASALMS Challenge Division and the Music City Spring Clash 200.

Mackinaw, Illinois (03/28/2007): Once the 2006 season was over for Mackinaw, Illinois brothers, Derek and Nick Neville, both of them knew that they had just finished waging a spirited family “war” for the coveted 2006 ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Rookie of the Year Title. The elder Neville Brother, 21-year-old Derek beat out his 19-year-old younger brother, Nick Neville by a mere 14 points to win the freshman crown.

Now the Neville Brothers are preparing for their respective Sophomore seasons within “America’s Premiere Short Track Series” and the 2007 Racing Season is fast approaching for the Prairie State siblings. Both drivers expect to win and contend for the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Championship, and the war at home looks to resume.

For the 2007 Racing Season, both Derek and Nick Neville will be going after the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Championship as well as make select appearances in both the ASALMS Challenge and Southern Divisions. In addition, on ASALMS off weekends, both Neville Brothers will climb back into their dirt UMP Modified as often as possible.

The 2007 season for the “Brothers Neville” begins this Friday and Saturday March 30-31, 2007 at the famed Music City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee for the ASALMS Challenge Division second event of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 Season; The Music City Spring Clash 200. Both drivers were on hand last November and have experience on the fast 0.596 Mile High-Banked Paved Oval, but this time around, things will be just a little different.

For the Neville Brothers, this event will be their second in the ASALMS Challenge Division but first on the Hoosier Radial Tires. Last season during the ASALMS portion of the All-American 400 Weekend, all three divisions of the ASALMS were on hand and although the non-points event was considered a Challenge Division race, the teams were on the Northern and Southern Division’s Hoosier Bias Ply (10-inch Slicks) tires.

“Nashville will be our first “radial tire” race, so I am not sure exactly what to expect.” Explained Nick Neville, the youngest of the Two Neville Brothers. “With a new crew, different tires and an unfamiliar set-up it will sure be an interesting weekend! But, at least I think I will still remember my way around the track!” Laughed the 19-year-old.

“We had a good run going last fall at Nashville until bad luck (and the front stretch wall) got in our way.” Added Derek Neville, the 2006 ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year. “So I hope to avoid the trouble and pick up where right where we left off at the end of 2006, like my brother said, the radial tires will definitely be something different, but we’ll manage.” He added.

During the off-season the Buzz Motorsports Team partnered with the Omega Sports Marketing group of Mooresville, North Carolina. The firm is currently in negotiations with several companies that have expressed an interest in hiring Derek and Nick to market their products and services within the motorsports community.

“The addition of Omega Sports Marketing Group will help to secure the financial future of Buzz Motorsports and will put Derek and Nick in front of the movers and shakers within the Motorsports industry.” Stated Buzz Motorsports Car Owner, Jamie Neville, the Neville Brothers, Father. “Drivers can no longer rely on just their skill behind the wheel to be successful, they must also learn to be salesmen, business professionals and spokesmen.” He added.

As for changes within the organization, two new Crew Chiefs will be stepping up to the plate for the Buzz Motorsports duo. Kevin Tunks has been hired as the full time team manager. The Edgerton, Wisconsin native will oversee preparation of both cars and will serve as race day crew chief for Nick Neville.

In addition, Chad Stevens of Orfordville, Wisconsin, who works full time as a Technical Consultant at Lefthander Chassis in Rockton, Illinois joins Buzz Motorsports and will serve as crew chief for the 2006 ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year, Derek Neville and will work part time with in the race shop with Kevin.

“Last year was a big learning curve for the entire Buzz Motorsports organization. Although we had a lot of success in 2006, my job as a team owner was to determine which areas needed improvement and to find solutions.” The Boys’ Father and Car Owner, Jamie Neville continued.

“I decided that running a two-car team was too much to ask from our group of all volunteers. Bringing Kevin and Chad on board will create a solid foundation for us to build from.” He added. “Each of them is an expert on our type of racing. Their guidance will bring us the consistency we lacked during our rookie season.” The elder Neville ended.
“It’s a great opportunity to get to work with Chad as my crew chief.” Continued Derek Neville. “To have a chassis expert in my corner every weekend will help us eliminate a lot of trial and error. His knowledge of the Lefthander chassis and his experience as a late model driver will be a perfect combination to help me get my first ASALMS win.” Derek ended.

Nick then added; “I’m really excited about the direction our team has taken over the winter. Having Kevin as a full time member is a huge step towards our goal of being one of the premiere short track teams in the country!” Nick continued. “I will be able to focus more on my development as a driver this season and let Kevin and his group of guys work their magic with the car!” Nick Neville ended.

Derek Neville is the 2006 ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year! During the 2006 season, Neville’s best effort was a runner-up showing at the Lorain (OH) Speedway on June 24, 2006 in the ASALMS Northern Division. The second place showing is Derek’s lone Top Five to go with five Top 10 showings, which was enough to win the 2006 Appleton Rack and Pinions Rookie of the Year title in the ASALMS Northern Division by 14 points ahead of his younger brother, Nick Neville.

He also finished fifth in the ASALMS Northern Division Overall Points chase. Neville also made select appearances in the ASALMS Southern Division and finished 10th in his first ever pavement start during the Pepsi 100 Presented by Ryan’s Steakhouse at the Beech Bend (KY) Raceway Park on April 29, 2006.

The elder Neville began racing Quarter Midgets on dirt in 1997 at the age of 11. In his rookie season he raced to an impressive 12 A-main feature wins. The following three seasons, he split his time between both dirt and asphalt tracks, enjoying success on both surfaces and accumulating a total of 53 feature wins!

The 21-year-old conquered the high banks of the Mini-Indy Speedway during the 2000 season, winning the Honda points championship while setting numerous track records and was later inducted into the Mini-Indy Quarter Midget Hall of Fame. During the 2002 season, Derek competed locally in the Four cylinder Mini-Stock division at the Peoria, (IL) Speedway where he won four feature events including the Pepsi Mid-Season Championship.

Neville made the jump to the UMP Open Wheel Modified division and from 2003-2005, Derek racked up dozens of heat race wins and several top five feature finishes. He placed fourth in the final 2005 point standings at the Farmer City (IL) Raceway against a stellar field of competitors that included the 2005 UMP National Modified Champion and a former UMP Modified National Champion!

As for his younger brother, Nick Neville, the 2006 season saw the 19-year-old finish with one Top Five finish, a season high fifth place effort at the Lake Erie (PA) Speedway back on June 9, 2006 to go with four Top 10 finishes during the complete 2006 ASALMS Northern Division schedule. He finished behind his brother, Derek Neville in the runner-up spot for the coveted Freshman title. Neville finished 14 points behind his brother in sixth place overall as well.

In addition, Neville also made select appearances in the ASALMS Southern Division and finished seventh in his first ever pavement start at the Beech Bend (KY) Raceway Park on April 29, 2006. He backed that up two months later by winning the Fast Qualifier award and finishing sixth at the Rockcastle (KY) Speedway on June 17, 2006. Neville also finished a strong eighth during the ASALMS portion of the 24th annual All-American 400 Weekend at the Music City (TN) Motorplex.

Nick began racing Quarter Midgets on dirt in 1997 at the age of nine. Switching to asphalt the following season proved to be a good choice. Over the course of four years he managed to rack up three Track Championships, 77 feature wins along with several track records. He was also inducted into the Mini-Indy Quarter Midget Hall of Fame!
During the 2002 season, Nick competed locally in the Four-Cylinder Mini-Stock division. The eighth grade student proceeded to post five Feature wins in only 12 starts! That success propelled Nick to advance to the ultra competitive UMP open wheeled Modified division.

From 2003-2005, Nick traveled throughout the entire Midwest competing in over 150 feature events at 26 different tracks. His list of accomplishments is impressive with dozens of heat race wins, 28 top five feature finishes and two feature wins, all while still in high school!

For the 2007 season, Derek Neville will carry sponsorship on the side of his Chevrolet Monte Carlo from: Ben E. Neville Roll-Off and Trucking Service as well as Buzz Motorsports and M.P.H. Promotions. His younger brother, Nick Neville will also steer A Chevrolet Monte Carlo with sponsorship from; Ben E.
